[PICS] Journey rocks the Blaisdell yet again
More than 30 years have passed since Journey played their first concert in Honolulu, but last night’s sold-out show at the Blaisdell Arena was as eagerly-anticipated as the band’s visits to the same venue back in the early ’80s.
I was in the building to review the first of three Oahu dates in 2009; along with a review that’s set to run in Friday’s Star-Bulletin, I’ve got additional photos and video from the evening that I’ll share here.
More pictures after the jump. My video will be posted later today.

Was at the Wednesday show, and again tonight, Thursday. Tonight I was upfront, first row center, and got to really see and hear Journey up close. Great photos here, Jason. The Boys rock Hawaii, and Hawaii loves them. Hawaii’s 5 sold out shows kick off the Boys’ 2009 US tour and we’ve set the tone for the rest of the tour. “What I Needed” from their new Revelation just brought Journey to an entirely new level, and they took me along with them.
ARNEL brought everyone to their feet and interacted with us. Love him! I looked around the venue and the entire Blaisdell, from the floor all the way up to the upper levels, swayed as one along with ARNEL. He is hot!
Tom Moffatt has got to bring Journey back to the islands at the conclusion of their tour. It started here, and it will end here with yet again another set of sold out shows. It’ll be sad to see them leave our shores after the Waikoloa show on Sunday, but I am counting on Uncle Tom to bring them back!!! The buzz is that mainland people are beginning to feel jittery that Hawaii won’t let Journey leave, what with all the 5 sold out shows. We’ll let Journey go for a while but want them back here!

Was at the 26th show and what a show it was. I’ve seen Queen, Rollling Stones, Foreigner, Pat Benatar & Mariah Carey, but the Journey concert at Blaisdell was by far the most fun I’ve had. The crowd was so into it. So much support & love for the band. Arnel seem to have a special bond with the fans.
Some people seem to think the songs were performed in lower keys. They were not. They did lower them in some songs in Maui & Tokyo shows.
