Incubus to play Waikiki Shell in 2008

Local concert promoter BAMP Project is expected to announce Incubus’ return to Honolulu later today, bringing the band back to the islands for the first time in more than a decade.
According to the Star-Bulletin’s archives, Incubus last played here in August 1997. They were first up at the fifth annual Big Mele, which also featured sets by Save Ferris, NoFX, 311 and the Wu-Tang Clan.
Fast forward 10 years, and the band finds itself back in Hawaii after a year of touring in support of their sixth album, “Light Grenades,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart last December. They’ll arrive following concerts in Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and China.
Fellow promoter Jason Miller leaked word of the March 21 concert yesterday via e-mail; Incubus also has the date (plus a Maui show on March 22) listed on its official website.
Tickets for both concerts are expected to go on sale Dec. 20 at all Ticketmaster outlets.
