Gwen Stefani @ Blaisdell Arena [PICS/VIDEO]
Did you get a chance to read my review of Friday’s Gwen Stefani concert?
Here are the photos and video that I took while at the show.
I think I’ve noticed it before, but I haven’t taken a picture of it yet. The Blaisdell now offers valet parking on event nights:
After standing in line for a minute, I got into the arena shortly before 7:30 p.m. The merchandise booths were doing great business:
Once I found my seat, I discovered that one of the crew had a set list taped to his tripod:
Didn’t get a chance to take many pictures during Stefani’s set, since I was trying my best to pay attention and take notes for my review.
I did get some video, however. Here’s “Hollaback Girl,” with a nice little twist on the beat by Stefani’s backing band:
The highlight of the show had to be when Stefani made her way off the stage and into the crowd.
As I wrote in my review, I could tell something was up. Yellow tape went up before “Cool” started, and by the end of the song she was running up the stairs in front of me:
Here she is, addressing the crowd:
Before running up to the top of the risers where I was sitting. You can see her in the middle of this shot, just to the right of the camera flash:
Then it was back down the stairs:
And over to the mauka risers:
I also got some video of Stefani while she was on the platform in front of me. Be sure to watch for the little girl’s reaction at the end of this clip… it’s priceless:
On the way out afterward, I ran into KGMB’s Guy Hagi and KITV’s Mahealani Richardson with friends (KGMB’s Kim Gennaula was there too, but declined the photo opportunity).
Nice hair, Mahea!
Anyone else go to see Stefani last weekend? Your thoughts?

Flew in with my wife from Torrance, California to watch the Orange County phenom perform. Did it because it’s nearly impossible to get decent tickets for her concerts in the L.A. area. Always wanted to see her perform with or without No-Doubt. It was worth the cost of the flight out and the Hilton Hawaiian weekend stay. Watching her interact with the locals was priceless. She is a true crowd pleaser. I’ll be back again for her next tour. Aloha!

loved the fact that she sang to the corners and to the upper seats. loved the fact that she accepted gifts and took her time after the concert to pose and sign autographs. loved the fact that she ran in to the bleachers. loved all the costumes. love her!
