We don’t need trash TV on our sacred island. We don’t need promote it, support it, praise it. What we need are more high paying decent jobs on this island for our people. We need better economy and health care and housing for our homeless (our ancestors would be so sad). Need lower rent for us that live here every day instead of coming here for posh luxury vacations one month out of the year. We DO NOT need trash reality shows like Deal or No Deal coming here to badly influence our young girls that are already badly influenced by the mainland by pushing our girls to look like the caucasians they see on TV and movies and magazines, not study but try to be on a game show, to spend money they don’t have on clothes and hair and makeup and plastic surgery nonsense which is what those Hollywood girls on shows like this represent.

Nalani doesn’t know what opportunities are and obviously doesn’t have any children to provide for. This is why being American is so great, the freedom to participate and take advantage of opportunities when it comes and the freedom of speech.

You are right people don’t need to promote it, support it, or praise it and yes we do need more high paying decent jobs on this island along with a better economy, health care and housing. However, boycotting/bad mouthing a simple television show will not do anything to change the reality of the situation we are facing in Hawaii and the rest of the USA. In order for change to take place you need to get involved in politics, write letters to your senators and organize grass roots movements to promote change. Whining about it will get us nowhere.

Nalani made some very ignorant comments. What do Caucasians and the Mainland have to do with any of this? I am very offended. I live on Oahu and have been made to feel very unwelcome by some locals who are very prejudice, like Nalani. Get to the root of the problem and quit blaming us.

Maybe some people dont think money won could be used for doing good. FYI if I were to win $1mil I would use a portion of it to help people where I live and pay for college educations. I live In Waianae where there are a lot of hawaiians including my family who have healthy body images who study hard and just want to have a shot at some extra cash. I would love to end homeless issues create jobs and save the world but $1 mil isn’t much these days so I do what I can and spread aloha thats free!
