50th State Fair concerts announced
It’s an annual tradition during the 50th State Fair – along with the E.K. Fernandez midway of rides and games, various national recording acts are invited to entertain the teenage crowds who make up the majority of attendees each year.
In 2006, the 50th State Fair welcomed Rihanna and Raven-Symone. Last year saw live performances by Omarion and Lloyd.
Next month, things will get cranked to another level when Soulja Boy (pictured) makes his Hawaii debut.
If you don’t know Soulja Boy, or his mind-numbingly annoying hit single, “Crank Dat,” then its a good bet you fall squarely OUTSIDE the demographic he caters to. It’s also a good bet you won’t recognize any of the other performers scheduled to appear at Aloha Stadium.
According to E.K. Fernandez, pop vocalist Asia Cruise returns to the islands for shows on May 30 and 31. She’s been out here twice in the last six or eight months, if I’m not mistaken, to perform at local nightclubs.
If you’re unfamiliar with her music, take a listen to Cruise’s latest single, “Walk Me Out,” which hit the streets this week:
Other upcoming performances include:
Selena Gomez (Alex from “Wizards of Waverly Place“), May 31
Jordan Pruitt, June 13 and 14
Mitchel Musso (Oliver from “Hannah Montana“), June 20 and 21
And if you’re a fan of the MTV show “America’s Best Dance Crew,” get ready for what will undoubtedly be a high-energy performance by Kaba Modern on June 22.
