Sorry about the delay in posting videos from last night’s 31st Annual Na Hoku Hanohano Awards.
Rendering video is a tedious process, especially when I’m trying to produce material using a laptop computer. I was originally going to sift through all my footage to produce a highlight reel, but it looks like that would take me until the weekend (at least) to complete.
So, I’m going with short clips of each individual interview that John Berger did from the winner’s circle. I’ve got interviews with Maunalua, Cyril Pahinui and Keali’i Reichel ready for upload, so expect to see those videos here later tonight when I get back from working on another story for the paper.
Hopefully, I’ll get the rest of them edited and posted online by tomorrow (or Friday) afternoon.

Welcome to the 31st annual Na Hoku Hanohano Awards!
Myself and John Berger are at the Hawaii Convention Center to cover this gala event. He’s downstairs on the red carpet as we speak, while I’m getting set up just outside the Kalakaua Ballroom where a “Winner’s Circle” is set up for the media to do interviews.

Met up with the Star-Bulletin’s John Berger at Chai’s on Friday for the Brothers Cazimero’s CD release party in honor of their latest effort, “Destiny.”
As is usually the case with events produced by Chai’s Island Bistro and/or the Mountain Apple Company, there was plenty of good food, lots of movers and shakers from the local entertainment community and no shortage of quality live music.
Before Robert and Roland Cazimero got on stage to play for the crowd at Chai’s, John and I got a chance to talk story about the duo’s new album. Click here for a lo-res version of the video via YouTube.

Three members of No Bare Feet are back in town this week, but the former Hawaii residents won’t be playing any gigs while they’re here.
Brothers Matt (pictured) and Josh Baker are making the trip along with the band’s drummer, “Thrash.” All three are now part-time youth soccer coaches in addition to their musical endeavors.
Matt Baker got in touch a few weeks back to give us the scoops.
“A few of us coach a girls under 13 soccer team who took top two in the state of California in our State Cup,” he wrote via e-mail. “(We) qualified for (the) Far West Regionals … in Hawaii this year. The games are June 16th-22nd at the Waipio Sports Complex.”
I’m told NBF also made an appearance on Star 101.9 to talk story and share the band’s new single. They didn’t send me a .mp3 copy of the song, so I’m unable to share it here, but you can visit their MySpace page to listen to some music.

Souljah Boy tries to ‘Superman dat wave’ off Waikiki. The hip-pop star was in town for a performance at the 50th State Fair a few weeks back.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow at all Ticketmaster outlets for Smash Mouth’s Aug. 2 concert at the Waikiki Shell. Hawaii Pacific Entertainment and JP Productions are responsible for the show.
According to the poster, tickets are priced at $30, $45 and $55, with a $5 military discount available. Local ska band Go Jimmy Go is scheduled to open.
From the press release announcing the show:
“Smash Mouth has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide and is best known for their 1997 number one hit‚ ‘Walkin’ In The Sun’ and their 1999 release ‘All Star,’ which topped three national radio charts and hit number four on the Billboard Hot 100.
Widely recognized for their ultra catchy melodies, their albums include ‘Fush Yu Mang,’ ‘Astro Lounge,’ a self-titled third album (which produced ‘I’m A Believer,’ a popular track featured in the film ‘Shrek’) and ‘All-Star Smash Hits.’
