“Rock the Bells” Tix On Sale Saturday

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

By Jason Genegabus

The good news?

“Rock the Bells” tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday, according to Ticketmaster.com. Prices will be $35 to $50 for the Sept. 1 show at the Blaisdell.

The bad news?

The lineup is still the same, stripped-down version I announced earlier: Wu-Tang, Bone Thugs and Supernatural.

“Rock the Bells” Lineup Update

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

By Jason Genegabus

So it looks like my initial report about “Rock the Bells” was correct: Wu-Tang Clan is coming to Honolulu with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Supernatural.

Nas, Talib Kweli, MF Doom, Pharoahe Monch, Immortal Technique, Slum Village featuring Phat Kat, David Banner, Jedi Mind Tricks and Rahzel, however, do not appear to be making the trip, as I was told last week.

This arrived in my e-mail this morning from the tour’s PR rep:

Hey Jason,

So it seems that as of now, the lineup is only what you have seen listed: Wu-Tang Clan, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Supernatural. I have not been given any other info re the show except that and the date/location. If I should hear of more info, I will definitely let you know!

Thanks!

So that’s where the situation stands as of today. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement.

Guess we’ve got to focus on the positive:

WU-TANG IS COMING!!!

Jimmy Buffett Coming Back to Honolulu

Monday, July 16th, 2007

By Jason Genegabus

jimmy_buffett.jpg

He might not know how to throw up a proper shaka (what IS he doing with his left hand in the picture?), but local Parrotheads will be happy to hear that Jimmy Buffett is coming back to Honolulu in October.

Tickets for Oct. 4 concert at the Waikiki Shell are priced at $76 and $126 for reserved seats and $38.50 for general admission lawn seats. They go on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Blaisdell Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations. Call (877) 750-4400 to charge tickets, or order online at www.ticketmaster.com.

The Hawaii stop is part of Buffett’s 2007 summer tour, dubbed the “Bama Breeze Tour,” and features the Coral Reefer Band. His latest album, “Take the Weather With You,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country chart when it was released in Aug. 2006.

The big question? Will Jake Shimabukuro perform with Buffett, as he has done numerous times on the mainland?

That was the scene in a Waikiki office building parking lot on Saturday, as Burger King Hawaii prepared to give away custom nine-foot longboards to 14 lucky Oahu residents.

Enter-to-win boxes went up in all 28 Burger King restaurants in Hawaii last month, with winners selected last week.
