2007 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards

Amy Hanaiali’i Gilliom and Kaukahi were the big winners tonight at the 30th annual Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, held this year for the first time at the Hawaii Convention Center.

Gilliom took home four Hokus, with Kaukahi trailing right behind with three awards.

Miss Hawaii 2007 Crowned

Congrats to Miss Kahala Ashley Layfield, who left the Hilton Hawaiian Village tonight as Miss Hawaii 2007.

She’ll travel to the mainland later this year to succeed Piialoha Gaison, Miss Hawaii 2006, at the national Miss America Pageant.

Miss North Shore, Raine Mckenna Apuakea Arndt, was named first runner-up; Miss East Oahu Kawena Chun, Miss Island Oahu Milia Macfarlane and Miss Garden Isle Sabrina Ponciano were named second, third and fourth runners-up, respectively.

Ponciano also received the award for highest judges’ score in the talent portion of the pageant, while Miss Windward Marisa Joy Kekaiaulu Kellett scored highest in the swimsuit portion.

Macfarlane and Arndt were two-time winners as well, with Macfarlane taking home the academic achievement award and Arndt walking away with the community service award.

And based on votes by the contestants themselves, Miss West Oahu Corine Owen was named Miss Congeniality.
